Welcome to Old Post Road School

With our long, cold, snowy winter behind us, we are gearing up for a great spring in our school.  Lots of different activities will be going on such as field trips, field days, Math Day in the Park for Grade 5, and Story Hour at Barnes & Noble.  We hope that you can save the afternoon of Sunday, May 31st for a very special celebration as it will be OPR’s 50th birthday!  Alumni, retired teachers, and town and state officials will help our current OPR families recognize the many accomplishments in our school.  We will have items from a time capsule which was created in 1990 at the 25th year celebration of OPR on display.  Also, we will be exhibiting items to be placed in a time capsule to be opened at our 75th year celebration in 2040.  We hope that you can attend!!

OPR opened on November 9, 1964. Mr. Harold Varney was the first principal of the school and served superbly for 25 years. The stagecoach was chosen as our symbol as it represents the way communication and travel first occurred on the Old Post Roads of yesteryear.  READ MORE...
