Kids In Sports

Fairy Gardens

Teacher: Mrs. Hughes

Day: Mondays (April 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21, June 4)

Limit: 10 students in grades 2-5

Cost: $35.00 + $15.00 material fee = Total $50.00


In this creative class we will first decorate wooden fairy houses, using craft supplies and materials collected from nature. Then we will fill a mini garden for your fairy house, using a container, soil, moss and plants. If you want tiny fairy visitors in your garden, you will need to make it inviting. We will make small accessories to decorate the garden and pebble paths for the fairies to follow.


Tea Time Treats

Day: Tuesdays (April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)

Limit: 10 students in grades K-2

Create mini tea sandwiches and bake sweet treats while planning a fabulous tea party for the class.  Learn about how tea time started long ago and the traditions and manners of afternoon tea.  Each student will get a recipe book and a china tea cup and saucer to bring home after the last class, which is also the day of our fancy tea party! (Please note any food allergies during registration. Children will not drink tea, they will have juice instead.)


Breakout EDU

Teacher: Ms. Engasser

Day: Tuesdays (April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)

Have you heard of Escape the Room: Solving puzzles and clues to “escape” a locked room.  Well, welcome to Breakout EDU where we’ll use games, and players will work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box.  We’ll use online games as well.  Put your detective skills to the test and unlock codes to “breakout”.


Jump Rope Club

Teacher:  Mrs. Green

DayTuesdays (April 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)

Grades:  K-5

Cost:  $35.00

Do you like to jump rope?  Do you want more time to practice at jumping rope?  Jumpers of all levels are encouraged to join in on the fun!  During this course, we will play "Helicopter", "The Wave", compete in "Jump-offs", practice long ropes, double-dutch, Chinese wheel and Chinese Jump Ropes.  This is a great way to get exercise, spend time with friends, make new friends and get better at jumping rope.  This is an exercise that helps athletes become better at other sports they play as well.  

DIY Soap Making

Teacher: Mrs. Cindy Hughes

Day: Wednesdays (April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30)

Limit: 10 students in grades 2-5

Soap making is lots of fun and a very creative hobby! In this class, children will make their own soap using the melt and pour method and adding scents and colors. The soaps can be used at home or given as gifts. Each student will design their own soap maker logo and create packaging for their unique soapy creations!

Hola Espanol!

Day: Wednesdays (April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30)

Students will be introduced to Spanish language and culture through interactive games, activities, art, storytelling and songs.  The classes will incorporate auditory, visual, and kinesthetic activities to explore topics such as family, food, and personal interests. 


OPR Lego Robotics

Teacher: Mr. Carpenter and Mrs. Cowan

Day: Wednesdays (April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30)

Limit: 15 students in grades 2-5

The OPR Lego Robotics Club Lego Simple Machines and Lego EdEo2.0.  Teams of up to 2-3 children will receive a mini-challenge based on the Lego Robotics Education program.  Children will explore, investigate, design, build, and code these machines and mechanisms built with the Lego Robotics systems. 

Creative Cupcakes

Teacher:  Mrs. Cindy Hughes

DayThursdays  (April 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31)

Limit:  14 students in grades 2-5

Each week you will have fun decorating creative cupcakes to bring home to eat. The theme for this session is “Nerdy Nummies”. We will be using cupcake recipes from Rosanna Pansino’s cookbook and YouTube channel. Students must bring their own container each week to carry two decorated cupcakes home safely. (Please note any food allergies during registration.)



OPR Advanced Robotics

OPR Advanced Robotics is on the lookout for 10 members in grades 3-5 who have taken Lego Robotics to join us as we begin an after-school Advanced Robotics Program!   Due to limited spots in this program, participants will be drawn at random if more than 10 students sign up.

The program is geared to students ages 8-10 years and utilizes Lego WeDo 2.0. Teams of 2-3 students will receive a mini-challenge weekly based on the Lego WeDo Education programs. Students spend approximately the 6 weeks exploring, investigating, designing, building, and coding these Lego WeDo kits built each week . This program will build on machine coding skills and building for competition. The students will also work alongside with teen mentors from the High School Walpole Revolution 1153 Team. This collaboration will greatly benefit the students showing them the many different aspects of the robotics field and how it is applied today and in future applications. The OPR program will be part of the larger robotics program here in Walpole and will be able to have the team name shared with High School program, the Junior Revolution.  Students must have already taken OPR Lego Robotics to enroll.

Stretch Yourself Yoga

Ready to get twisted in pretzel pose? Or, hiss like a snake in cobra? This unique yoga series will incorporate yoga poses, breathing exercises, and games into every class. Children will build upon team work skills have the opportunity to learn individual and partner yoga poses. Whether you have yoga experience or not, this series will be a great way for children to learn effective breathing strategies and yoga poses all while having fun.
